2. Regarding SP Invitationals, these are the details provided:

Date: 23rd Feb
Venue: Orchid Bowl Safra Yishun
Format of play: Team of 4 bowlers bowl in 2 events: Doubles/Quartet. Each bowler will bowl a 4game series in each event. COmbined scores of both events (8 games) will determine singles individual all-event score.
Entry fee: $160/team BUT the school will be subsidising half of it. So that amounts to $20/person.
Prizes to be won: Vouchers, gifts, trophies.

I don't think there are any public buses to OCC but there's a shuttle bus that goes from YISHUN MRT station BUS STOP to OCC approximately every 45 minutes.

For those with no cars or don't want to cab eh?

Open House 2007

Hi. The open house is this friday, 5th October. We hope that everybody would be able to help out. We also need bowling balls for exhibition, anyone who wants to do so are required to polish their balls. Here are the distribution of roles for the day:
Four groups will rotate about their duties at different timeslots of 45 minutes
Groups:
1. Samuel, Angus, Petrina and Yi Xuan

2. Daryl, Christopher, Elaine and Serene

3. Eran, Jun Xiang, Natalie, Wei Xin and Elis

4. Marcus, Jimmy, Glenn, Valerie and Zuo Qi

Our booth would be at the sports complex (standing broad jump area)

Rotation of Duties:
o Booth: Promote the Pdp, take down contacts and manage enquiries
o Sports Complex: Give out cards and direct people to booth
o Canteen: Give out drinks and direct people to booth
o Classroom blocks: Give out cards and direct people to booth

At the end of the open house, please stay back for clean-up. Thanks.

Hey bowlers,

We are having our open house on the 5th of October 2007. So do approach us should you have any good ideas on how to promote our team to the future year 1s and attract people to our stall. All contributions are welcome from poster designs , ideas for free gifts etc. Secondly, those who wish to exibit their balls ( BOWLING balls) on that day please approach one of us also. We will be display about 4 -5. However, should you wish to exhibit your bowling balls, you would be required to polish them up. Thirdly, most if not all would be helping out at the stall, so should anyone have a valid reason not to be present (eg: setting up of other stalls for your teachers) do tell us so we can organise the shifts.

I've been hijacking this place lately. However this blog was meant to be a way to make announcements to the team... haha. So, anyway, as you may be able to see, this site layout has changed / redesigned.

Seeing that there was a site mishap earlier this month, I've decided to contribute a final gift to the team, in the form of a brand new look for this site. I've given this site a "web 2.0" make-over, bringing this site up to be in line with the current trends in the web-design committee.

With the change, you'll be glad to know that the images are now being hosted on googlepages, i.e., on google servers so the problem of expiring images shouldn't occur....
I've also moved the site to blogger's new templating system based on XML. This should ease the maintenance of this site. However, if there is a need to change the layout, CSS need to be used not HTML There may be a learning curve here.

Features are still being added, but I've included the tagboard already. I would prefer for the current admins to add the features desired as this is up to the current exco to decide.
The photo montage/collage was made using photos I have, and the pictures chosen are totally random..

Oh... and any comments or suggested improvements on the layout are welcomed. You can use my blog to comment or just post a comment in response to this post.

Site mishap

To the committee members as well as the team....

Regarding the website. The file host isn't down. I checked.
Apparently, all the files hosted has been deleted due to account inactivity
(EDIT: Yixuan already confirmed this as replied in the tagboard.....)

So I guess all graphics, JavaScript files, CSS files are all gone for good. I do not know if I have a backup files here on my drive though.. I will try searching when I have time off from doing the school's website..

Maybe the committee may want to embark on a new layout??
You'll have the Nov/Dec holidays after the exams to do so i guess... =P

Anyway, I've took a look at the HTML and made some edits, so the site is now readable and almost the same as before, just that without the gradients and effects and stuff... Also, I corrected some errors which were causing the problems with display. Apparently the */ within the CSS section was removed causing the CSS to malfunction...

Email me with what you think (about redesigning and stuff).

Hello bowlers.

It has been a great journey with you all this one year. I still remember the day I was elected as Captain. I was rather unwillingly thrust into this position, and i really regret showing my displeasure that fateful day at Tampines safra. On hindsight it was a really stupid thing to do. I mean, you look up to me to be your Captain and all i had to give was a stupid, unhappy face. I thought about things that day after i left and i realised since i have been given this position, i'm going to just face it, take it up, and do the best i can for the team. It was not easy getting used to being at the helm of an organisation but i suppose after a while, especially that wonderful team dinner on 25th august, our last training for the school term, i kind of got the hang of it.

Since then, there was no turning back. I was just going to do what i could for the team to the best of my ability. I was just going to do what i thought was right. It was great watching every one of you improve yourselves both in your bowling, and in terms of getting to know each other better. Certain incidents at the start of this year only seemed to strengthen our ties with each other. Bowling camp was one of the committee's first attempts at organising major events, and i'm proud to say that i thought both of them were successes. I am very happy that everybody enjoyed themselves.

On a personal note, i do realise that i have changed quite a bit this year. I am very sorry to have carried my personal frustrations over to bowling. So sorry for showing you black faces during some briefings and debriefings and during bowling. I faced lots of pressure in class because everyone was doing well and teachers were starting to say things. I suppose i could have tried to handle myself better in this aspect, because it was detrimental to the team.

I do not believe in leading with an iron fist. Because of this, i've tried to portray myself as everybody's friend. I never wanted that much of a distinction between Captain and team member, because after all, i was one up until the announcement of the committee, then i was not just a team member anymore. Do you know what i'm saying xD. Of course there were times when there required an exertion of authority but I always chose to believe that you would know how to do the right thing at the end of it. And i was not disappointed. Thank you for having the discipline to gather and do warmups and cooldown without me having to say too much. Thank you for being on time at the canteen each day before training. Thank you for offering your services to help drag the balls around. Thank you, my committee for roughing it all out with me. Basically, thank you very much for doing your part in making my captainship an enjoyable, and much less stressful one.

A division was the most memorable one for me. I decided to actually talk to you guys as captain. I mean, prior to that it was all "see you on friday!" "next wednesday same time same place same shirt" "YOU there, do warmups." OH whatever. The response i got from everybody after i delivered the short speeches each day made me so so so happy. Even though our cheer is not as fancy as the other schools, that simple TJ Whoosh was more than adequate. For that moment Temasek Bowling sounded out to the other schools with one voice, and a spirit to fight on and persevere.

Although we missed out on our team goals by 2 positions for both girls and guys, i know that everybody put in their best effort. How do i know? you ask. Each time we cheered before the event started, i looked into your eyes and saw the determination and drive to do your best, both for yourself and our team. That is the most important thing. The will to do your very best. Congratulations to each and every one of you. I couldn't be more proud.

Starting from today, the new committee will be taking over. Marcus, Daryl, Chris, Natalie, Petrina, Yi Xuan. You will be the ones taking Temasek Bowling to greater heights. Congratulations to each and everyone of you.

TJ Bowlers unite. Thank you so much for walking the journey with me. I could never be more proud.

May 30th....

This will most probably be my last post in this site as the webmaster.

Starting today, the 2006-7 Committee will officially step down making way for the new 2007-08 committee. Congratulations to all who are appointed. The official appointment of the new committee will be done at the 2007 Sportsmen Appreciation Award Ceremony.

On behalf of the committee, a really big thank you to everyone for making our time in Temasek JC bowling Team memorable.

As for the future of this website, I'll leave that for the new committee to decide.

hope everyone is happy with their bowling shirts =)

basically from next week onwards, we will expect all members to be in the new bowling shirts for training. anyone who fails to do so would be severely dealt with =)

it would be nice of you guys to wear the yellow shirt to school on friday too since its now some special friday and you can wear any school related shirts. so you can save yourself the trouble of changing and bringing extra shirts =)

in case some of you are still unaware, you'll need to get a pair of khaki and black shorts/pants (those of you who don't have it lah)

girls wear shorts and guys long pants hor. and it would be khaki with dark green, black with yellow. yup that's all.

oh wait wait. due to some error with the sizes, i'll be making a trip down some time next week to alter an extra L size to S size. anyone with shirts that are TOO BIG can pass their shirts to me and get it altered too. uh too small then can't help it. sorry.

urm if theres anyone who wants to do mutual swaps to change sizes or trade with the extra L size i got, just let me know. but the yellow shirts sizes would probably be correct so... you will have one big one small shirts lah. yup. hey guys.

sorry to make this sound like we are trying to force those who do not want the jacket to buy it. but please understand that this is a team jacket so if we want it, we buy it as a team.

its like for example, your class wants to make a class tee. its unnecessary and you do not need it, but because the majority of the class wants it, thus everyone has to buy it as everyone is part of the class. the same applies for this jacket. yes, we already have the jerseys but the jerseys are a MUST in order for us to compete in the tournaments.

think of the jacket as a momento of being part of Team TJC Bowling. you can continue wearing it and always remember that you are always part of the TJBowling family.

to those who really have difficulties, please do not hesitate to approach me or mr ng. i'm sure we can work a solution out together. thanks.

Hey! 1st time posting! Wahaha! Anyways, this post is regarding the proposed jackets. So listen up.

We are requesting the whole team to vote on the jacket again, after a few unexpected incidents. After discussing with Mr Ng, we have decided to ask you all to vote again. Please read the following important points...

1. If MORE than/equal to 5 people state that they do not want the jacket, we will proceed with making the jacket for the whole team except those people.
2. If LESS THAN 5 people state they do not want the jacket, we will proceed with ordering for the WHOLE TEAM. This decision has been undertaken by the committee and Mr Ng.
3. Those people with problems and are unable to buy/afford the jacket may approach Yee Tien or Mr Ng to rediscuss/ renegotiate the jacket.
4. If you do not submit a vote before 11.59pm, 24th March 2007, Saturday, your vote will automatically be taken as a yes.
5. You are voting for or against the $35 jacket. Requests for the $30 jacket will not be entertained.
6. The only ways to vote are either to comment on this post or SMSing YEE TIEN.

Hey ya. Please bring $35 on Monday for the 2 polo shirts. I'll be at the table near to ZAP in the canteen at around 7, so if you want to pay me then, it would be good.. If not, drop me an SMS any time of the day and maybe we can meet or something.

There will be a $20 subsidy so you would be only paying $13, but bring $33, because the subsidies won't be granted until a later date, and we've got to pay the aunty the deposit by Monday so she can start printing. :)

The aunty will be passing us samples of the jackets (to see the sizes, if you people are still keen on getting the jacket) and also cloth with silver/gold words printed on it. because she said that the effect might not be as nice since the font won't be too metallic.

Uhh. Oh, and she also sent me pictures of the jackets:

Price is at 35 per person. But there's a 50% subsidy or something.

4 games each. It's a doubles and team format over two days. So.. the singles score is the addition of both events.

Tomorrow as you all know is PDP showcase for the Year 1s...

I don't have all the details. However, from the SC, I heard that it should start at around 3pm and JC1s will have a dialogue with the SC in the morning where they will be introduced to the SC.

In the afternoon which is the PDP showcase....
Wear orange bowling tee.
According to Qinghui, this is to ensure more prominence...
Thus Friday's Training will be black tee.

Bring along your bowling balls if you want to display them. It will be kept in the store after that for Friday's training which will be at Safra Tampines for this week.

Oh and there will also be the excellent banner which you all made. haha Cheers....

I know that this is a bit of a nag but for those who were absent with excuses, please pass me (or any com member if I aren't at trng).... or Mr Ng also can.... Its your choice...

Even those with excuses or reason known to us, a hard-copy of an excuse letter whether parents, doctors MC etc is needed and has to be handed to us....
Its ok if its photocopied.

All those who did not hand us a hard-copy would be deemed as absent without excuse....
That is according to Mr Ng....

Requirement to submit a letter the next training (for MCs and letters becoz ur sick) and one training beforehand (for some holiday etc.) was already announced on 8/12/2006....

Inform me beforehand if you cannot pass me the letter on the next training.. just do it asap.

some of you may have heard the announcement some time ago. ~~but for those who weren't listening...~~ a group of TA students have come together to take part in a project called "Project Vibrant Colours", and we are planning to raise $5000, and get together 2500 pens for a collage, and all the proceeds go to a charity organisation, "Home of the Aged Sick".

collection of pens will be till 13th january. and it would be reallllyyyyyy good if you can pass me some of your used/those-that-you-don't-want-anymore pens! =)

Over the September holidays, Billy represented us to play in the Catholic JC Charity Bowl.

He averaged 221 to emerge champion of the tournament, having scores of 195, 236, 234.

With this kind of score he would have won in almost every other competition. Nice work lah Billy.

He received a bowling pin trophy la! haha.

What are you waiting for, give the hero the congratulations that he deserves :)

Well.. you have voted.. 12 of you want to go to the Airport! That's awesome

However, the place i intend to take u all to... closes rather early. Around 730 to 8. That sucks im sorry i didnt realise it earlier.

It is a food court by the way. So everyone can eat anything...... well almost. I promise the food there is excellent. The jap food and western food there beats some restaurants even.

A grilled or fried chicken costs about 4.50 or 5 bucks i forgot, and a big big plate of pasta starts from as low as $2.90. And it's damn good

For jap.. surprisingly the Yakiniku Beef set is the cheapest at $3.90 i think. Yea, 4 bucks. Really good, japanese chef and everything

Anyway the point is, Since it closes early, we have to be there early~

Thus, training has been pushed from 4-6. That gives us 1 extra hour to do our stuff. + another 10 or 15mins if we don't dally, hey. we can make it.

So yea, need your utmost cooperation.

IF IF IF we need to cab to the freaking place.... alight at Terminal 2 and we'll be on our way.

Also, if it seems like we are unable to make it to the foody place in time..... we will just have to settle for somewhere near like tampines mall. Sorry, this one really beyond our control. wahah. yea, this one's for you, jx, eran, and someone else.....hahah

As you all know, THIS FRIDAY is the last trng. what the x man, so fast? SO FFFAAAAAAAAAAAAASTTTT?!?!!%?@%!?!@%?!@%

:( Yea. I cant believe it. You are not allowed to, even if you do. haha

Rodney suggested having a Team Dinner after training this Friday. Something i would like everyone to consider taking time off for. We won't be going very far from the training venue la, Tampines Mall or something like that, just prepare about 10 or 20 bucks in case a place like Fish n Co is chosen or something.

The rationale behind this... is to have everyone see each other wearing the bowling uniform, being together and bonded.. as bonded as any Team can be... for the last time.

The next time you see everyone lugging their leceh bowling trolleys around... i can promise not everyone will be wearing the same orange or black. There will be new additions to the bowling family.. be expected to see about 4 new faces.. one of whom is my dear chung cheng pride~!~! hoo. and not to forget TK pride, IJ Pride, and TP Pride. wahaha

The next time you see the other 17 people in the same alley at the same time... will be in a few months. That's in november or december or something. And that is a bloody long time. Personally.. i feel that this whole 2/3 of a year has gone by so fricking fast. I can still vividly remember my first few trainings.. and now it is going to be our last.

Our Last. Never will you be able to relive those days of the past. Come year end, some combined schools guy will be leaving. Chances are, Friday will be the last chance for a long time you get to see the big guy throw his stuff around. Next time, it's no longer the orange and black you see twice a week for him okay, its the goddamn shades of the flag we look at every day when marikita-ing.

Yea, everything is going to be different after the 25th of August. And there is nothing anyone here can do to change it. Old people may leave, new talents will come, but everybody moves on with time all the same. EDIT (Aug 5): Due to a bug in Internet Explorer 7 and in fact, other bugs in various versions of Internet Explorer, I have disabled the sidebar accordian effect for Internet Explorer... Users of Firefox should not be affected.

EDIT 2 (Aug 5): Internet Explorer 7 bug is solved. Thus effect is re-enabled.

EDIT 3 (Aug 6): Another change... now, when you load the page, the banner will fade into view instead of just appearing.

EDIT 4 (Aug 7): I expanded the page length so that those using Internet Explorer 6 would be able to see the whole blog... There seems to be a bug in IE6 which causes it to display the page wrongly, cutting off after the sidebar ends.. After checking, it is confirmed that nothing is wrong with the original code as it works in IE7, Firefox and Opera.

It seems that IE6 is also not able to display hover properties correctly. Thus the mouse over effects of the sidebar is not present for IE6 users.

Since there has been so much problem lately (partly because I am using IE 7 beta now which is more "standards compliant" compared to IE6), I have decided to create a "changelog" page. It will document the changes to the site as well as updates to any problems that have been brought up about the site.

Regarding Training Attendence

We've been ok about it, you all have not thought about it, but someone has been concerned about it...

Yup, I am referring to the attendence records... There has been quite a number of absence this past month or so, and we were hard-pressed to prove to Mr Ng your reasons for absence..

Thus, following his instruction, it is now required that you produce a letter of excuse of MC if you do not go for training. If you are absent from school that particular day, please make a copy of your MC.

If it is school related like Learning Journey's you are strongly advised to approch Mr Ng directly and inform him, on top of informing us. That means both of us are to be informed.. Please let us know if you have told him.

However, in event that you forget to inform him or us for school related events, please get the teacher to write a memo stating that you are indeed there. This includes SPAs.

All these will be filed and monitored.

If we do not receive an MC/Memo/Letter, we will take it as you are absent without valid excuse.

Oh... So the tournament has finished long ago and you can't remember anything about it... So? You still have to write your reflections! =D. Rejoice! Wahaha.

Training 19/7 Wednesday

Going Hougang meet at 4. We FLY as soon as everyone has gathered. Those who release early can change first. JC1 got some stupid english debrief which will last until just before 4. HOO`.

Sorry, no bus. Apparently 5 of its tyres punctured due to contact with very rough tar surfaces.

We will reach hougang at maybe 430 to 445, possibly past 5 oh my god and watch SRJC play around first

Training is... 1.5hrs from 5 to 630, so all of us can go home early and prepare for any killer tests, or be with your family, friends..................................................................................................................
or girlfriends/boyfriends for an extra half hour, how nice

Wear black. Because black is a colour of mourning, and everyone should be feeling sad for me wahaha.

Those of us who are released early.. meet at 2pm, changed, at Canteen. Lanes are 3pm to 6pm oh boy. Those of us who are released not so early.... like Gerald... gather and come quickly.. Extra lanes will be opened from 4 to 6pm. This is pretty much the arrangement for all Fridays.

Of course everyone likes to show off. So show off your orange shirt to the world. Because it looks menacing and evil

In anycase, wear it, and be at faber by 2pm, the rest of the time, you prepare your tape, balls, gloves, everything. Must be there by 2 ok. Get used to the environment. It helps a lot.

Instead of using lightbox, the mechanism was switched to litebox

Litebox is smaller in file-size as it utilises the moo.fx library instead of script.aculo.us.

This effectively cuts down loading times.

One problem though.... it seems that the sidebar still shows when the lightbox is in effect with the overlay. However, this is a minor problem which I will ignore for now.

I expanded the page length so that those using Internet Explorer 6 would be able to see the whole blog...

There seems to be a bug in IE6 which causes it to display the page wrongly, cutting off after the sidebar ends.. After checking, it is confirmed that nothing is wrong with the original code as it works in IE7, Firefox and Opera. It seems that IE6 is also not able to display hover properties correctly. Thus the mouse over effects of the sidebar is not present for IE6 users.
